I made Cornish game hens for Christmas dinner—for my husband am me, and that was after searching the ‘net for a few days, to find something that would work. We were sadly disappointed, especially since I’d been “winging it” for a number of years now, and wanted to try something “different”. Unfortunately, we found it to be “bland”, despite using fresh ingredients, and being up at 1:30 a.m. two nights before, peeling and grating ginger root!

Hi Susan – there are no cornish game hens in this roundup. I only have one cornish game hen recipe on the site, and it calls for dry ginger, not grated… if you’re referring to that recipe, I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy it! But I suspect you may be referring to a different recipe altogether? If you made the recipe with fresh ginger, it might have tasted bland because of that – dry ginger is more concentrated and potent. I always suggest sticking to a recipe as written the first time before making alterations.
