On the Purim holiday, Jewish tradition calls for cocktails. This aromatic sweet-and-sour Purim cocktail was inspired by limonana, the unofficial “national drink” of Israel. Rum adds a tipsy kick to this lemony drink. It’s a light, cool, and refreshing cocktail— perfect for a springtime Purim celebration. More Purim cocktail recipes here.
The Jewish holiday of Purim begins on the 14th day of the month of Adar. Consequently, the observance day changes each year on the Roman calendar. During the Purim holiday we read the Megillat Esther (the Scroll of Esther). We celebrate Esther and her amazing courage. In addition, we enjoy Purim cocktails!
Purim has many fun traditions. From wearing costumes to baking hamantaschen to sending out mishloach manot, it’s a festive and fun time of year. According to the Talmud, alcohol is a traditional part of the Purim holiday celebration. Consequently, it is also a fun excuse to enjoy a Purim cocktail (or two, or more!). Therefore, I’ve taken to creating recipes for tipsy Purim drinks at this time of year.
Enter The Purim Pucker, the perfect Purim cocktail. The flavor brings me right back to Israel, where we love to sip ice-cold limonana on the shores of the Mediterranean. Alternatively, children and adults who are avoiding alcohol can safely enjoy a traditional limonana. Either way, this sweet pucker-inducing drink is sure to make you smile!
